Bella Swan has been through a lot in the past year, from avoiding an attack by a nomadic vampire to finding out that her boyfriend is a vampire that thirsts for her blood. Now, as summer ends, a new school year begins. Bella is turning eighteen, and she is distraught. Edward still refuses to change her and damn her to an eternity in hell, but that hasn't stopped her from trying. As she tries to convince him, Alice plans a birthday party. Bella reluctantly agrees to go. It starts off great, until a papercut changes everything. Just as Jasper is about to attack, something happens to the Cullens. They no longer thirst for blood, and blood runs through their veins. The Cullens are alive.

Shocked and confused, they search for answers. They soon find that every other vampire in the world is also human. The only ones who might know why this happened are the Volturi, but the Cullens are reluctant. Some of the Volturi aren't very happy about being human, and some think that the law should still be enforced. Meanwhile, Bella begins spending time with Jacob Black, and something about him changes as well. Bella's journey has just begun, and anything could happen. Will you be ready?
